Album Description

The music on this recording was fully and freely improvised. Free improvisation is a creative path available to all. We hope our sounds inspire others to embrace dissonance and consonance, to play past limits, and to find the music within. Special thanks to our producer Bobby Read and to our guest artists. We are grateful to the University of Virginia - UVA Arts and the Office of the Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts - for financial support and to Kim Turner of the Music Department for fiscal assistance. We dedicate Within to our listeners who have joined this musical experience, and to those who have invited us to perform, especially Bruce Hornsby who first inspired Angela on the Arts to go public. Released November 2019

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
