Zachary Biggus was born on August 8th, 1984 and was surrounded by music at a young age. He began playing guitar at the age of 11, focusing first on rock and later turning his interest to jazz. By 16, he was working with local bands in Chicagoland, and began playing Jazz with his High School teacher, Tom Bowling. Zachary attended Elmhurst College, where he had the opportunity to study and work with Frank Portolese, Chris Siebold, and Mark Colby. Upon graduating in 2007, Zachary continued to work with groups in Chicago, and in 2010 released his first album, Jusqu’â Présent. This independent release displays Biggus’ capacity for composition as well as improvisation. Since it’s release, Biggus continues to perform regularly in the Chicagoland area, and has established himself both in his tasteful complements to the rhythm section and on innovative solo flights.

Fans of jazz/rock fusion will find a lot to like in Zachary Biggus‘ eight-song
Jusqu’â Présent, wherein, aided by able bass and drums sidemen, he displays not
inconsiderable prowess on guitar. Even if you keep jazz fusion at a distance, be
impressed with his technique, and find the decidedly more rock-like construct of
second cut “Fess Up” and solo acoustic guitar turn on closer “Feeling Rain” a
welcome respite from the near nonstop “chicka-chicka” jazzbo beat.
