Primary Instrument:

String Swing is a Copenhagen based jazz group with a music style based on solid gypsy swing and a vast load of original material. String Swing’s main attraction is singer Alice Carreri, who joined the band only two years ago. Alice is featured on String Swing’s latest album “Waiting For the Good Times” - and her no nonsense interpretation of Bob Dylan’s “Things Have Changed” is destined to become a classic.

Only two founding members of String Swing are still in the band; guitar player Jacob Fischer is considered Europe’s finest jazz player - his list of credits is enormous and includes work with Svend Asmussen, Toots Thielemanns, Chris Potter and Monty Alexander. Jacob Fischer’s playing with String Swing is more influenced by Django Reinhardt’s playing, than you’ll hear him anywhere else. String Swing's founder is Søren Siegumfeldt who plays the rarely heard c-melody saxophone exclusively. Søren Siegumfeldt writes the band’s original songs and has produced all of String Swing’s records. His credits include working with pianists Horace Parlan and Chano Dominguez. The band’s elegant swing is completed by rhythm section king and queen - guitarist Regin Fuhlendorff and bassist Eva Skipper.

Awards:

The first two album “Red Shoes” and “Blue Hat” (featuring accordionist Richard Galliano) received various music awards - including “Best Danish Jazz Album of 2004” at Danish Music Awards and ”Best Danish Jazz Album 2005” voted by readers and critics of the Danish magazine “Jazz Special”.
